- Senior Project Architect/Manager

Position Summary
The Senior Project Architect plays a central role in both design leadership and project execution at Cardello Architects. Working directly with the firm’s Partners, this position leads all phases of the architectural process—from conceptual design and client presentations through construction administration—ensuring each project reflects the firm’s commitment to design excellence and technical precision.
This role also serves as a key leader within the studio, mentoring staff, reinforcing standards, and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing design culture.
Essential Functions
Design Leadership & Project Management
- Lead projects through all phases: feasibility, programming, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration
- Uphold the firm’s design vision by delivering thoughtful, well-executed solutions that balance creativity with technical rigor
- Maintain accountability for project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
Mentorship & Collaboration
- Foster a collaborative studio environment that supports professional growth and shared learning
- Mentor and oversee junior and intermediate staff, promoting consistency in both design and documentation
- Coordinate closely with internal teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure alignment with project goals and design intent
Technical Execution & Construction Administration
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in documentation, detailing, and quality control
- Review and approve shop drawings, submittals, and material samples for design and technical accuracy
- Conduct site visits, lead coordination meetings, and maintain clear project documentation
- Proactively identify and resolve design and construction challenges to maintain quality and client satisfaction
- Uphold firm standards for QA/QC and document management
Client Relations & Professional Conduct
- Maintain clear, consistent communication with clients, consultants, and contractors
- Keep leadership informed of project status, risks, and opportunities
- Represent the firm with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to excellence
- Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and leadership aligned with the firm’s culture
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Licensed Architect; NCARB certification preferred
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
- 8–15 years of experience in high-end custom residential design
- Proven leadership in project delivery, client management, and consultant coordination
Required Skills & Competencies
- Software: Proficiency in Revit required; experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with Morpholio Trace and Monograph is a plus
- Design: Strong ability to translate conceptual ideas into buildable solutions
- Project Management: Skilled in complex, multi-phase residential projects
- Communication: Excellent presentation and relationship management skills, particularly with high-net-worth clients
- Professionalism: Proactive, detail-oriented, committed to quality teamwork
Physical & Visual Requirements
- Ability to work seated for extended periods at a computer or drafting table
- Ability to navigate office and active construction sites safely
- Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment
- Strong visual acuity for interpreting drawings and technical documents
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Strong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in professional business English and architectural terminology

Work Environment
- 100% in-person, with remote work permitted by circumstances
- Collaborative studio setting that supports teamwork and design dialogue
- Occasional travel to project sites and meetings
- Exposure to typical construction site conditions during fieldwork
- Standard hours: 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM, with flexibility as needed
